In today’s afternoon trade, Nifty’s Metal, PSU Banks and Realty indexes declined over 2%.
They were mainly affected by weakness in global stocks, as the US-China trade conflict intensified.
Nifty Metal was dragged down by Jindal Steel (-4.40%), Hindalco (-3.74%) and Vedanta (-3.36%). Further, all the stocks were trading in the red, with Vedanta hitting its 52-week low.
This is the Goa-based metal manufacturer’s second consecutive day 52-week low after its parent company halted operations in a Zambia mine.
All PSU Banks and Realty stocks were trading in the red. The biggest losers in PSU Banks were Canara Bank (-2.9%), Syndicate Bank (-2.69%) and Bank of India (-2.46%).
Among the Realty shares, Unitech (-3.30%), HDIL (-3.09%) and DLF (-2.63%) were the main contributors.
